The Reading Clinic was founded in 1968 by Bermudian Elizabeth ("Betty") Kitson, in response to the needs of children with a specific reading disability (dyslexia).

Since that time it has grown from providing specialised tutoring based in the founder’s home to an array of services designed to meet the needs of individuals with specific learning disabilities in a purpose-built facility on Serpentine Road, Pembroke, which opened in 1991.

The Reading Clinic is a not-for-profit, registered charity, founded to help students who have a specific language-based learning difference (dyslexia).

<>We also provide assessment, family consultations, teacher training and public awareness/education on dyslexia and learning differences in general. We provide specialised tutoring for children with math learning differences, and an early intervention/pre-literacy programme in four Government preschools.

We want all children who need our help to have access to our services, regardless of their financial situation. To this end, we raise money to provide bursaries for testing and tutoring for those in financial need.
